Volcanos

In New Zealand there are two Active volcano's currently in existence
These volcano's are Mt Ruapehu and Mt Tongariro

Both volcano's are in the North Island.

Mt Ruapehu last erupted on the 25th September 2007.

Mt Tongariro last erupted on the 21st November 2012.

Active volcanoes have Erupted recently. A dormant Volcano isn't erupting right now, but vulcanologists expect it could erupt at any time. Extinct volcanoes haven't erupted for tens of thousands of years, and aren't expected to erupt again

volcano which has not erupted in the past 10,000 years is extinct. The extinct volcano no longer has a high silica or low silica lava supply. An extinct volcano is no longer near an active geologic hot spot, if it ever was.

A dead volcano in Rome has come back to life. Scientists are saying a dormant volcano on the outskirts of Rome is poised for an eruption. However, this may not occur for a number of years. Researchers were stunned after they discovered Colli Albani, a volcano that was presumed extinct, is active once again.

What is a volcano?A mountain or hill, typically conical, having a crater or vent through which lava, rock fragments, hot vapor, and gas are or have been erupted from the earth's crust.

How is a Volcano Formed? Volcanoes are formed when magma from within the Earth's upper mantle works its way to the surface. At the surface, it erupts to form lava flows and ash deposits. Over time as the volcano continues to erupt, it will get bigger and bigger.

How far can lava travel?
The longest recent flow in Hawaii was erupted from Mauna Loa in 1859. It is about 51 kilometers long from the vent to the ocean (we don't know how much longer it went out under water, but probably not too much farther). There is a lava flow at Undara in Queensland, Australia is 100 miles (160 km) long.

How tall is an average Volcano?
Cinder cone volcanoes are fairly small, generally only about 300 feet (91 meters) tall and not rising more than 1,200 feet (366 meters).

When a Volcano is formed how long can it take before it can erupt?
Stromboli volcano off the coast of Italy has been erupting more or less continuously for over 2000 years! Other volcanoes have eruptions that last less than a day. According to the Smithsonian Institute's Global Volcanic Program, the median length of time for a single eruption is seven weeks.

These are the volcano's that are dormat volcano's In New Zealand

Creating a Bar Graph

In Social Studies we learnt how to create a Graph.
A graph must have these points below

Frame
Axis
Units
Lables
Title
Scale
Plot
Key

Graph must also have colour to make the graph stand out.

Here is the graph that we made as a class but this is my personal one
This graph is about Number of Auzzies born Overseas.
Here is my graph with all the data needed.

Persuasive Essay

What did I learn? I learnt how to use different descriptive words in a paragraph.
Why did we do it as a class? Idk I think because most of us have trouble on writing paragraphs and we needed help so we did it as a class to get everyone ideas and to help us think more clearly.
What will I do better next time? Use different words to start my sentences and use more descriptive words.
What questions dill I still have? I have no questions.

Hornby high students should be able to
leave school to get their own food
*Some students are responsible enough to do this.
*This will allow students more choice for food than what the canteen offers
*Students should be allowed B.K dropped off by a caregivers,as
sometimes there’s no time in the morning

*Students may not come back, and therefore bunk
*Could use leaving school as an incentive-in the english CARR licenses
*Should not leave the school grounds-Students need to
support the school canteen.

More choice,more time,more responsibility.
Students from Hornby High should be allowed to
leave the school grounds to buy food. This will enable
students to have more food options, more time options
,and the opportunity to show responsibility.

Hornby students want a greater variety of food.
For example,year 10’s prefer eating pies,energy
drinks,Doritos, and burgers.Other year groups desire
these foods also. This will make the students happier
outside of class and would result in them having a better
attitude in class.Teachers get to choose what they want to
eat,So why shouldn’t us students?

Not only would be allowing students to go out of
school any give
them more choice, it would also allow caregivers
more options around time management. For instance
,letting students pick up their lunch or takeaways from
outside of school during lunch it will permit caregivers,
the flexibility of time in this busy world. This will help
caregivers have the opportunity to be on time with
other appointments,if they didn’t have time to make
lunch in the morning.Surely we want to have happy
caregivers and students at hornby high, by allowing
them this liberty?

As well as more choices and flexibility around time
, we want Hornby students to become more responsible
as young adults. To illustrate this,Hornby High English
learners in years nine and ten have more opportunities
,chances and privileges around their decisions to learn
through a CARR license system. The student will either
be on a learners, restricted, full or expert licence with
responsible actions and consequences from being
in class. 100% of students in 10DA thought that students
on the expert license should be able to leave school at
lunch to get the food they desire.Responsibility shown
in the class should be rewarded with responsibility outside of class.

Responsible teenagers at Hornby High school should
definitely be able to leave school to get food. This
would mean more choice, time, and rewards for our
akonga.If we want 21st century learners,we must
change with the times.

American Indians

The fierce, powerful, strong Blackfoot tribe, was located in North Dakota and South Dakota. This tribe is also known as the Siksika.

Blackfoot tribe spoke Algonquian language. They're a very religious tribe. Their religion is based on animism that encompassed the spiritual idea that the universe and all natural objects, animals, plants, trees and rivers etc, have souls or spirits.

The Blackfoot wore ankle length dresses for the woman, and they were made of buckskin. (the ski of male deer). They decorated them with beads. They also would decorate there weapons. Which were, Knives, bow and arrows, spears, lances and war clubs. They used them to kill there food. The food they ate were roots, herbs, berries and buffalo, fish and other different meat.

Did you know? That the Blackfoot tribe isn't the only tribe that believes in Animism and speaks Algonquian language and has alot of similar things like the Blackfoot tribe. The Arapaho tribe  is almost the exact same as the Blackfoot tribe.

But the Arapaho tribe is located in Red Valley, Minnesota.
They have this special type of clothing they wear. Their main materials they use to decorate their clothing is porcupine and skin for deer and the buffalo.

Every year the Arapaho and the Blackfoot tribes celebrate the Sun dance ceremony.
Both tribes also eat the same kinds of food. The Arapaho tribe eats fish, trees, meat, berries and herbs.

Arapaho tribe's chief Sharp Nose is a strong and powerful leader and the Blackfoot tribe's leader is also strong, Powerful and also tough and faithful. These are some amazing chief's within the many american Indian tribes around.

These two tribes are very powerful and have alot in common but they also have their own distinctive differences within there tribes.
